Player Welfare

The Goodwood Saints Football Club has worked extremely hard to establish its current position within our community and the football fraternity, and continually strives to maintain and improve in every way. We strive to communicate our stance on being an inclusive and socially responsible club. The Player Welfare Team aim to support all players both physically and mentally.

Mental Health Support Program

The club currently has 2 mental health support officers who will provide access to professional support to any players who are experiencing any concerns with their mental health. This is a strictly confidential program and only the MH Support Officer and the Player Welfare Manager are aware of the player involved in the support program.

Players can access up to 3 professional sessions paid for by the club.  If further sessions are required, players may be encouraged to seek a ‘Mental Health Plan’ with their health care practitioner.

Mind Care Coaching:  Linking players with a MindCare Coach who are trained in mental health to provide low intensity treatment for different mental health conditions, - depression, suicidal ideation, substance dependence, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, schizoaffective disorder and more.

Psychologist Referral:  Players may be referred to a number of professionals who are specialists in their required field to support players depending on the related issue.

Injury Management

The club provides support to players who are significantly injured by contacting them and keeping them engaged during their rehabilitation, with the aim of having them return to playing or keeping them involved in the club.  First Aid Treatment forms should be completed on the day of injury and the form is then sent to the GSFC admin manager and the Player Welfare Team – Injury Management Officer. The player and or parent will be contacted during the week seeking an update on the injury and if required providing Marsh insurance forms.

Players with significant injuries may also be offered 3 month gym memberships to the Goodlife Gym @ Cross Roads, Westbourne Park.
